Front Row's Benchmark Assessments can cover all grade level standards or be customized to focus on a particular domain, a particular standard, or multiple domains and standards. They can be used as progress monitors throughout the year, end-of-unit exams, or more frequent formative assessments at various points throughout a unit.
These assessments allow teachers to track student performance and progress throughout the year that can then help inform their teaching. Teachers have access to detailed information about student performance and progress right on their Teacher Dashboard.
Checking class progress on a benchmark assessment:
1) To check completion progress on the benchmark assessment you just assigned to your students, click on the arrow icon next to the assessment from your Assignments page.
You will see a list of students who have not yet completed the assessment, as well as a list of students who have already completed the assessment. This makes it easy to track the completion!
Once all students have completed it, it will be moved from the list of assignments and will be filed under the Completed Assignments section. To see a list of these assignments, click the "Completed Assignments" button. You will see each completed assignment as well as a link to see how students performed.
Checking class performance on a benchmark assessment:
When you click on Reports under Math in the left navigation bar, you will see the Assessment Report.
In this report, you will find a list of all benchmark assessments you have assigned. They are organized by date, and you can see which domains and standards you assigned, as well as completion progress.
If you have assigned the same domain(s) and standard(s) multiple times, you will see a link that says "See growth report >". This growth report will show you how your class has performed on that benchmark topic over time by student, domain, and standard.
To look at data for a specific assessment, you can expand a row, where you will see a link to "see assessment report >"
Clicking on the assessment report will show you multiple tabs:
Tab 1 - Student performance
You can see how students performed on the specific assessment, and the colors quickly show you which students may require special attention.
Tab 2 - Domain performance
On this tab, you can see how your class performed on the domain(s) assigned. Furthermore, you can expand each domain to see how each student performed in the given domain.
Tab 3 - Standard performance
Similar to the Domain tab, you can see how your class performed on a specific standard on an assessment. This can help you determine which standards to re-teach with your class. You can also drill into a specific standard and see how each student performed on that standard.
Tab 4 - Question performance
Similar to the Domain and Standard tabs, the question tab shows you the exact questions that were included in the assessment, and how your students did on each question. This helps you pinpoint exactly what types of questions might be tripping students up. Since Benchmark Assessments include bucket questions and multiple answer questions, this is a good way to get students comfortable with these question types.
These detailed reports will help you set your class up for success in state testing and beyond.
